class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, we traveled to Copenhagen with a strong presence, showcasing several research posters focused on the <a href=\"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/projects\/demosath\">DemoSATH<\/a> project, our floating wind demonstrator that has been operating off the Basque coast since summer 2023. One of our highlights? Being <strong>recognized at the WindEurope 2025 Poster Awards<\/strong>, a meaningful acknowledgment of the impactful work our team is doing in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of more than 400 abstracts submitted, around 190 posters were selected from over 130 organizations. Among these, only 8 were distinguished as award winners \u2014 and we&#8217;re proud to be one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bird and Bat monitoring at DemoSATH: Protecting biodiversity at sea<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our awarded poster focused on <strong>avian monitoring<\/strong> at the DemoSATH unit, where we have implemented an extensive suite of monitoring tools and methodologies to study bird behavior around the floating platform. The goal: to develop an accurate and effective system for <strong>minimizing the environmental impact of offshore wind structures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\"  class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Bird-monitoring-in-DemoSATH-LAB.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of Bird monitoring in DemoSATH LAB.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-db950fb6-18bb-4d06-a59f-1092dc869c44\" href=\"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Bird-monitoring-in-DemoSATH-LAB.pdf\">Bird monitoring in DemoSATH LAB<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Bird-monitoring-in-DemoSATH-LAB.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-db950fb6-18bb-4d06-a59f-1092dc869c44\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We also presented <strong>preliminary findings on bat activity<\/strong> in the vicinity of our demonstrator. Offshore wind turbines can attract bats during their migratory periods, often using these structures to rest or hunt \u2014 behaviors that can expose them to risks like collisions or barotrauma. This work showcases the results from a full year of operation of the DemoSATH platform, confirming its <strong>stability, hydrodynamic performance, and reliability<\/strong> under real conditions. Using both numerical models and empirical data, we validated core design assumptions \u2014 including static tilt, dynamic behavior, and nacelle acceleration responses.
