The data was provided by the Basque Energy Board (EVE)<\/strong>, which is finalizing preparations for the major European wind energy event of this first semester\u2014WindEurope<\/strong>\u2014taking place in Bilbao<\/strong> during the first week of April. “The Basque wind sector,”<\/em> explain representatives from the EVE, “accounts for 4,000 jobs<\/strong> and a business volume of 15.7 million euros<\/strong>“<\/em> (coal mining employed 1,590 people in Spain as of February 2019, according to the State Secretariat for Social Security, under the Ministry of Labor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WindEurope Event in Bilbao<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The organization representing the European wind industry\u2014WindEurope<\/strong>\u2014is holding its major annual event in Bilbao. It chose the city on the Nervi\u00f3n River because it considers the Basque Country a “fantastic example of how the wind industry supports local jobs, investment, and growth.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Exhibition Scope:<\/strong> The major sector fair expects 300 exhibiting companies<\/strong> arriving from around 50 countries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Basque Representation:<\/strong> 18 companies<\/strong> will have their own exhibition space, while another 37 companies<\/strong> will form part of the Euskadi-Basque Country zone<\/strong>, coordinated by the EVE, occupying 800 square meters<\/strong> in Hall 1<\/strong> of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre<\/strong> (the venue hosting WindEurope 2019).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Interactive Audiovisual Tool:<\/strong> Showcases the potential of the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP)<\/strong>\u2014a real-sea testing infrastructure for researching, demonstrating, and exploiting marine energy and offshore wind devices, featuring two areas located in Mutriku<\/strong> and Armintza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Television Studio:<\/strong> A dedicated space for conducting interviews with various entities and companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Networking Receptions:<\/strong> Held every midday on April 2, 3, and 4<\/strong> in the Euskadi-Basque Country zone, offering visiting companies and organizations a chance to connect while experiencing Basque gastronomy and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
