{"id":320,"date":"2017-06-02T16:41:01","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T14:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/?p=320"},"modified":"2020-02-17T11:38:10","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T10:38:10","slug":"saitec-unveils-new-floating-wind-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/en\/saitec-unveils-new-floating-wind-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"SAITEC Unveils New Floating Wind Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Spanish\n engineering company SAITEC presented its floating platform for offshore\n wind applications \u2013&nbsp;SATH\u00a9 \u2013 at EWEA Paris 2015&nbsp;on 19 November.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SATH (Swinging Around Twin Hull) is a floating solution made of \nconcrete, comprising two twin hulls bonded to a single point, with a \nbearing that allows the platform to swing around this point.&nbsp;The Single \nPoint Mooring approach, commonly employed in the oil &amp; gas industry,\n reduces the pressure on&nbsp;the platform, the company explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Luis Gonz\u00e1lez-Pinto Barrenetxea<\/strong>, Head of Renewable Energy in SAITEC, told <em>Offshore WIND<\/em> that the&nbsp;SATH project started three years ago, and the platform was first presented in April this year. <em>\u201cWe have waited to have a solid developed solution before going public.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>In\n November, the company used the opportunity to showcase its floating \nwind solution to a greater audience at the&nbsp;EWEA event in Paris. <em>\u201cThere we did a more developed presentation focused on economic analysis.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/saitec-offshore.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/SAITEC-Unveils-New-Floating-Wind-Platform1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-525\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014, the SATH platform has gone through intensive test campaign \nwith several scale models in the water tanks of Instituto de Hidr\u00e1ulica \nAmbiental and University of Cantabria, which&nbsp;demonstrated its \nperformance in operational and extreme environmental conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company plans to have a detailed&nbsp;design of a full scale prototype\n next year, with the prototype&nbsp;installed and&nbsp;operating in 2017.
