Two twin concrete hulls\n are fastened to the mooring point with a bearing, allowing the platform\n to swing around this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ECN calculated that connecting to one single point shortens the \ninstallation time and makes it easier and cheaper to bring back the \nturbine to harbour for replacement of large components. Another cost and\n time reduction lies in the fact that all platform and turbine equipment\n is assembled at the harbour, thus reducing offshore operations to a \nminimum. Also, the use of concrete instead of steel has positive impact \non the maintenance costs because effects such as corrosion will not \noccur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Luis Gonz\u00e1lez-Pinto<\/strong>, Head of Renewable Energy at&nbsp;SAITEC, said: <em>\u201cThe\n expertise of ECN helps us in quantifying the added value of the SATH \nplatform.
