OWA 2024

See you in Shangai! On 30 -31 October, David Carrascosa, Chief Operations Officer, will participate in the 7th Offshore Wind Asia Summit (OWA2024), which will be held in China, focusing on the latest innovations and market trends in offshore wind energy. His keynote speech, titled Riding the Waves: Revolutionizing Offshore Wind with Innovative Floating Platforms – A Deep Dive into the DemoSATH Project, is expected to be a pivotal moment at the event, sharing real data and insights from Spain’s first floating wind project connected to the grid.

The event will feature over 800 participants, 80 expert presentations, and a large exhibition space with 150+ booths. Industry leaders will discuss challenges like supply chain optimization and cost management. The summit emphasizes Asia’s growing influence in the global offshore wind sector, making it a key networking event for professionals in this rapidly expanding industry.

In the floating offshore wind industry, China is undoubtedly a country to watch. It is spearheading large-scale projects, such as the 1 GW floating wind farm off the coast of Wanning, Hainan, expected to be operational by 2027. China is also deploying advanced turbines, like the 16-18 MW models planned for the Wanning project, which rank among the largest in the world.

Simultaneously, China is strengthening partnerships with European companies to bolster its expertise. European knowledge in environmental surveys, engineering design, and operations is playing a key role in accelerating China’s floating wind ambitions. Moreover, China’s dominance in turbine manufacturing has provided a solid foundation for the development of large-scale floating wind projects. With an established domestic supply chain, China is able to produce key components locally, reducing costs and enabling rapid deployment.
